Don moved to Michigan in 1987. Prior to coming to Grand Rapids, he lived with his wife and family of four in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley of California. It was here that he painted the local landscape in watercolors - to be shown in his own gallery in Los Olivos. Born in 1948, Don spent his childhood exploring the farmlands and canals of the San Joaquin Valley and later the canyons of San Diego. Also living in Colorado for two years gave him a great appreciation for the majestic vistas of the west. These rural connections are reflected in many of his contemporary landscape paintings.
Michigan has provided Don a new palette of verdant green forests, lush wetlands and stark winter landscapes, which grace many of his large canvases.
