Jim Markle has made a name for himself over the past decade exploring the medium of pastels. In fact, he was elected a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America in 1999. His pastel paintings were often done on site during his extensive travels throughout the U.S. and Europe. His experience of painting en plein air combined with his knowledge of pastels helped him invent the Jim Markle Pastel Easelbox as well as the Jim Markle North American Landscape set of pastels.
Dedicated to his career as an artist, Jim has gotten his name into the artistic community through various international and national competitions as well as publications. In 2004 he was elected Master member of the Great Lakes Plein Air Painters Association.
Recently however, Jim Markle has taken his artistic hand and dipped into the medium of oil paints. The results of his exploration have left our galleries with a collection of richly saturated, softly layered pieces.
